Each month, Governor Steve Beshear announces a winner of the state's "Unbridled Spirit Award." This award is given to a person or group of people who exemplify "Unbridled Spirit" in Kentucky. Winners of this award demonstrate extraordinary effort in accomplishing something for the good of the Commonwealth. These accomplishments may be related to volunteerism, community or charitable work, education, job creation, innovation, health care, sports, arts, etc. While winners may sometimes be famous Kentuckians, the award will most often be presented to everyday Kentuckians who are doing extraordinary things.
